Flashback 50s DJ Tony

Uncle Harry’s season kickoff show was bolstered by over 30 Chevrolet Camaros of the Illinois Camaro Club. Flashback 50s DJ Tony entertained the show with so many oldies I couldn’t jot down all the titles; here is my music section with a few of the tunes (this page would take too long to render if I embedded all the songs). I also saw two other friends from last year at Wood Dale: Dennis and his ’29 A-Model hot rod and Dave who couldn’t bring his 1970 Cutlass 4-4-2 but will show it soon.

1963 Chevrolet Impala SS

Sheldon has wanted a 1963 Chevy since he was 7 years old and now he’s got one. He’s owned three ’64 Impalas; his brother had a ’61 and his mom owned a ’62. Blue was his favored color but he found this gorgeous Laurel Green Impala.

He’s only the third registered owner but there were a number of others who never registered the car. Sunday night, there only 232.9 miles on the odometer after the frame off restoration, although there were 40k prior to that work. The car was the 158th Chevrolet convertible built in California; it’s a California Black Plate car. The current green and yellow Illinois plate is from 1963 with the colors honoring John Deere Company’s 100th anniversary in 1963.

The motor is a 327 cu. in. Midwest Car Exchange in Alsip did the restoration; replacement parts needed were ‘new old stock‘ and the green top was the last one available. Sheldon and his wife obtained the car in 2011. The co-owner of a Mobil shop personally changed the oil, using Shell Oil, which Sheldon prefers. They took it to a Muscle Car & Corvette National Show (total of about 500 cars)  in that year where is scored 984 points out of a possible 1,000.

1957 Chevrolet

I met John and his black ’57 Chevy Bel Air. He bought this restored car in 2009. It was restored about 2000 and the original 283 engine was replaced with a 327 cu in. From 1998 to 2009, this Bel Air changed hands among dealers in Texas, Arkansas, Missouri and Indiana.
