Downers Grove 6-07-2013

On Curtis Avenue, Ford A & T Models were featured and Jimmy Boy performed acoustic pop/rock tunes, a few of which can be heard here.

1957 Chevy Bel Aire

1957 Chevy Bel Air

Gordy’s red ‘57 Chevrolet Bel Air ragtop, with a Continental kit caught my eye. It has a 283 with Powerglide and power steering bur regular brakes. This ‘numbers matching’ car has only 100 miles since a frame-off restoration to factory original except Gordy swapped out the 18″ ‘bus wheel’ for a 14″ for driver room. He’d traded in a ’40 Ford. This Bel Aire had been bought from a fellow in Texas who’d gotten it at a Mecum Auction. More photos here.

1926 Ford Fordor

1926 Ford Fordor

This 1926 Ford Fordor original cost $ 660, F.O.B. Detroit. It’s restored original and the floor boards are stained wood, as it came from the factory. This was the top of the like for Ford in 1926. Contrast this with Don’s 1926 Ford Runabaout which cost half as much new.

Songs Jimmy performed

  • Summer of 69 by Bryan Adams
  • Brown Eyed Girl by Van Morrison
  • Johnny B. Goode by Chuck Berry
  • Blue Suede Shoes by Carl Perkins
  • I Won’t Back Down by Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers
