These 1955 Ford Fairlane Crown Victorias are gorgeous machines. Jerry’s turquoise and white one has a 292 V-8, which was bored out to 302, and the transmission is an automatic. Bill’s red and white one has a 312 Thunderbird motor with a three speed manual transmission. Here’s yet another gorgeous ’55 Crown Vic, pink and white.

Our host & Andrea

Our host & Andrea

As I was late arriving at Westchester, I missed Joe ‘Elvis’ Tirrito’s (see his website) first set. Some of the Elvis tunes he sang are at this link. His second set was titled ‘Gone Country’ and for the first time tonite he performed some country songs; look here for YouTube videos of a few his country music covers.

That’s the moon you see above Paul and I didn’t need any Photoshop tricks for the ‘moon over Miami Westchester’. I tried to include it in many of my images (link) as a different touch.

Here are four videos of Joe ‘Elvis’ Tirrto performing Elvis Presley songs:

  • C.C. Rider by Joe Tirrito
  • Suspicious Minds by Joe Tirrito
  • Unchained Melody by Joe Tirrito
  • The Wonder of You by Joe Tirrito

Father’s Day Lyons 6-16-2013

_DSC4642Just South of the Culvers and across the street from the fire station was the Lyons Fathers Day car show on 6-16-2013. Showcase Classics ran the show and awards; some of the music they streamed from satellite radio is here.

My story car for this event is a 1977 Corvette ‘Original Owner Again‘. As I was about to leave, a fellow said hi and I recognized him as an instructor from the college where I took all my photo classes. I saw his sign and found much more about the car …

Lombard 6-15-2013

1963 Corvette

1963 Corvette

The Lombard entertainment was provided by No Big Deal and a few of the songs performed are here. I haven’t seen Mike’s 1963 Corvette split-window coupe since July 24th in 2012 but it was parked on St. Charles and I got many photos; unfortunately I didn’t see Mike. I saw plenty of people I know but the threat of rain and a Blackhawks game must’ve kept some cars at home.

Downers Grove 6-14-2013

IMG_3813Featured cars on Curtis tonight were air-cooled vehicles including Corvairs, VW’s and Porsches. The Corvair club gave me a mug; many thanks guys.

I don’t often drink beer, but when I do I prefer Leine’s in a Corvair enthusiast’s mug.

The Matz Broz band entertained with Classic Rock and Blues music at the train station; since it can only be heard there, I had to get the song list from the group and here is some of the music performed.

1951 Henry J

1951 Henry J

Joe bought this steel bodied bright orange 1951 Henry J hot rod in early 2012. The power plant is a modern Chrysler Hemi with 426 cu in and there are dual Carter 600 CFM 4 bbl carburetors; this combination produces 500 bhp – it runs on premium gas. The motor in the Henry J was built by John Arruzza High Performance in North Carolina. The car originally came from South Carolina and the previous owner brought it home to Pennsylvania in 1997 and spent 3 years restoring it to this condition.

Lombard 6-08-2013

This was the Cruise Night season kickoff show in Lombard because it rained on June 1st. The cruisers made up for that and the Cadillac club came early and congregated at the bank. The entertainment was the band Roc Reation and here are some of the tunes they performed.

1967 Dodge Coronet R/T

1967 Dodge Coronet R/T

I met a friend of Clarence at the Loyola gym and when I told him I was heading to Lombard’s Cruise Night last year, he told me to look for the ‘elephant car’. It was easy to find and I discovered  Clarence has owned this rare vehicle since 1999. As such, I added this Dodge and tho other cars to my page of long time owners.

Westchester 6-10-2013

We listened to oldies music performed by the band, It’s About Time.

Four cars ‘lit it up’  by shooting flames from modified exhaust pipes. A spark plug in installed in the pipe and gas is dumped in by choking the carb; the owner of the ’55 Chevy said there are a number of ways to fire those plugs but he uses a Model T coil. Here’s a short video of how that went. (The page banner from a Westchester show last August shows the same ’57 Ford in front of Paul’s music stand.
