This week I added a Tribute page for Marty Bilecki, Jr. at this link and three focus car pages.
- Stu’s red 1954 Mercury Monterey
- Carl’s blue 1969 Ford Mustang
- Tom’s black and white 1956 Ford Crown Victoria
This week I added a Tribute page for Marty Bilecki, Jr. at this link and three focus car pages.
My photos for this event are now at this web page and I only have one more event to edit to complete my 2012 season!
Dennis the ‘Big Bopper DJ’ emceed and the Claremont Drive band performed oldies music. Great night and a mostly full parking lot for the next to last Cozzi Cruise night of the season. It seemed like Mustang night … they were everywhere. This is a link to my teaser gallery and my music section is here.
I met Dick and his 1947 Buick Special at Downers Grove earlier this year (perhaps 10 Aug). It ‘sports’ a ‘straight eight’. The car is almost ‘all original’ except for the reupholstered front seat and radial white wall tires.
I did a little investigative work and here’s a non-exhausive list of the Cruise Night schedule (in my range). Hope to attend the shows and Cruise Nights at least few times. I hope to see everyone and will find some new cars to feature.
I just finished my photo gallery for this event and you can see it at this link. Now there are only 2 car shows in my backlog for the 2012 season!! I also added a focus page for Stu’s ’54 Merc.
Another helluva night for cruisin’ Bensenville with perfect weather, lit up trees in the park and a bright moon, although not well paced for many car photos. And sadly, the season for Cruise Nights in Bensenville came to an end.
The three piece Soul Patch Monkey band entertained and they covered lots of Beatles tunes. My teaser gallery for the event includes night shots, because that’s my favorite, but I have many daylight images that I will post when I catch up.
My teaser gallery of night shots is here and a section devoted to familiar cars (to avid readers of my blog) is at this link. Two ‘new’ cars, of Frank and Frank, Jr, being original, special and having matching numbers can be found here. Click on this for my music section.
Stu’s orange red, restored original, 1954 Mercury Monterey drew my attention the moment it backed in. Would you argue with me if I said this car is a ‘time machine’? He’s only had it since January 2012. This was the first year Ford Motor company went to the Y-block eight cylinder motor, with overhead valves; abandoning the long employed flat-head V-8 motors. He did a lot of electrical rewiring work already. The motor is a 256 with 161 horsepower; the carburetor needs to be cleaned so performance isn’t yet up to par. He’s the third owner.
I have uploaded my photo gallery for this Cruise Night and you can find it here; this is a copy of my original blog post.
Holy #$%t, what an incredible night for cruisin’:
75th street was a disaster so it was late when I arrived but I love night shots. Had to hurry and post my second ‘moon over’ Cozzi gallery at this link (the first was from Wood Dale on August 30th here).
The DJ was the Dennis ‘the Big Bopper DJ’ and he spun some great oldies. See YouTube videos of the songs he played here. Three awards were given to a ’51 Buick,
Dave’s ’57 De Soto convertible and a yellow ’36 Ford Three window coupe. Look here.

I just completed editing the photos of my 53th car show from the 2012 and now only have four more to go. My photo gallery for Duke’s cruise night is here and below is my original post.
The prior week, Duke’s had been a mad house due to have a memorial show for Military veterans. This event was much smaller and, in some ways, easier to shoot. I shot some double exposures; My teaser photo gallery for the 15 car event is here.
I’ve included a repeat of the text of my original post for this show in the full narrative below. There are now only five events and 1,453 photos left for me to edit and upload before I can ‘wrap’ my 2012 car show season.
Even though the car show is winding down and sunset gets earlier and earlier, Bensenville had a great event with almost 100 cars and the band, Caliente “playing the Soulful Sounds of Old School with a Latin Groove“; YouTube videos of some of the songs they covered are at this link. And here is my teaser gallery.
My photo gallery for the Cruise Night is at this link and this is my original blog post.
My first visit to Duke’s was a great experience; it’s the same night as one of my favorites (Lombard) but has a longer season so I plan to return. This event had some great classics (OMG, I’m calling Fords & Chevys, that flourished in my lifetime,’classic’), muscle cars and many drag race cars. There was a helluva lot of noise from cars arriving, leaving and just revving.
This event, Duke’s Diner’s drag race night, had more significance that I just learned moments ago (4-17-12) by e-mail that the event was a tribute to a popular ‘car guy’, Marty Bilecki, Jr. Please read this page about him. After the car business, Marty went into sound mixing and worked with some artists whose music was part of many Cruise Nights I shot during the 2012 season.
This is my photo gallery for the Bensenville Cruise Night event and here’s the blog post.
